We started in 2012 with data entry and transcription. We've grown gradually since then. Here's what we actually are and how we work.
Maalkum started with data entry and transcription — serving UK property clients and businesses that needed accurate, reliable back-office work. We didn't start with a big vision. We started by doing the work properly and letting that build the business.
Over time we expanded — UK property inventory transcription became a core service, then general transcription, data processing, and document management. When AI annotation work came in, we applied the same operational discipline we'd built in BPO — read the spec, do a pilot, deliver to standard, document what needs fixing.
We also built a software and AI engineering capability — web apps, mobile, RAG systems, agentic pipelines, GPU model serving. This grew from the technical work connected to our AI data operations.
We're a registered Indian company. We work directly with clients — no platform in the middle. Our longest client relationship started in 2012 and is still active. Another has been running for over 8 years. We don't put this in our marketing as a claim — it's just what happened.
Year we started — still the same team ethos
Service areas — AI data, technology, business operations
Longest active client relationship — still running
Second longest — still active
These aren't values. They're just how we run things.
Before any work starts, we read your spec, ask questions, and confirm scope. We don't assume and start.
On any new engagement, we do a small batch first. You check it. We fix anything that's off. Then we scale.
MSA and SOW before any work or data is shared. Your IP stays yours. Confidentiality is in the contract.
When your QA comes back with issues, we produce a structured response — what was wrong and what changed.
The same person handles your brief, the delivery, and any issues. Not a ticketing system or a support queue.
If a project isn't something we can do properly, we'll say so. We'd rather lose a job than overpromise.
Standard practice on every engagement — not something we charge extra for.
Before any data is shared, we sign an NDA and MSA. Confidentiality is contractual, not informal.
Everything we produce is yours on delivery. We don't retain copies or repurpose client work.
Client data is used only for the stated project. Not retained after delivery, not shared with anyone.
Only the team members assigned to your project can access your data.
We use encrypted transfer or your preferred secure method. Not unencrypted email for sensitive files.
Every delivery version, QA finding, and fix cycle is documented and available on request.
Send us a brief — what the work is, the volume, the timeline. We respond within 24 hours with whether we're the right fit and what engagement looks like.
If we're not the right team for your project, we'll say so. If we are, we agree scope, sign, and start with a pilot batch. Same process whether it's annotation, software, or transcription.
